12/6-12-10 The Oh So Special Garden Gnome

It was just an ordinary day for Holly Groth. That is until she was getting ready to leave for work. Every day, Holly had the same schedule: Get up, work, come home, and sleep. Life wasn’t very exciting this time of year for Holly. She was out of school, and working quite often to pay off her college loans. She worked at the local gymnastics gym, Gymnastics Sports Academy and felt as she lived the same day over and over again. But one day, something strange and out of the ordinary happened. As she was walking out of her front door, her next door neighbor’s garden gnome suddenly walks over and starts telling her “what is really going on.” She didn’t really recognize the garden gnome. At first she thought it was a troll but people make mistakes all the time. He starts telling Holly about the neighborhood drama. The garden gnome told her secrets she never even knew. She found out who was seeing who and who wasn’t really going to work. The gnome told Holly about the future plans of the neighborhood and what the town’s people were planning on doing. It wasn’t all necessarily bad stuff, it was just information that Holly didn’t know. For an example, she found out that they were planning on adding sidewalks on her road. This made Holly happy because she soon would now have somewhere safe to walk her little doggy. She also found out that her next-door neighbor wasn’t really going to the gym every night; she was going to her second boyfriend’s house. This little gnome that sat in her neighbor’s front yard was a little fellow, but he sure did have a lot to say.

12/6-12-10 Favorite Childhood Game

My favorite childhood game would have to be Life. I’m not sure why I loved the game of Life, maybe it was because every time I played, I dominated. I remember my family would have family game nights and each night someone new would get to choose a game. So whenever it was my turn to choose a game, I would obviously choose Life. I think I liked it so much because every time something knew could happen. You could choose a different career, have a different number of kids, and have an awful or amazing salary. It was funny to watch my opponents always end up with the sucky life. I would always end up with the higher salary and a better life. I’m not sure how that happened; I was never one to cheat. I guess that’s just how things work out. I loved being able to choose a certain career and throughout the game, changing it. I also love the money part of it. After every time I pass Pay Day, I would let the cash roll in. I remember during sleepovers, I would always pull out the game of Life just to show off to my friends. I kept it right under my bed so whenever i was bored I could pull it out. Hopefully, that because I was so good at this game, that it is hinting me good news for my future. Maybe it is a sign that I will have a good life when I’m older and will have a good salary. That could explain why I love the game of Life so much.

11/29-12/3 What Is Art?

What is art? Art could mean so many different things to so many different types of people. You could ask somebody the same question and get a different response from someone living two houses down the road. It all depends on the way that person views art. I, personally, view art in many different ways. Art could be shown by physically doing something, or showing it on a piece of paper. Art could also be shown through some sort of dancing and music. By dancing, people can normally tell what kind of mood that person is feeling. Or if they’re expression their emotion through music, they play their instrument depending on how they feel. When someone is playing hard, strong, music their normally feeling upset or mad. Or, if that person is playing high-pitched, upbeat music, that would mean the person is in a good mood. Art is simple just expressing feelings. There is no limitations when it comes to art. When most people think of art, they think of paper, paint or colored pencils. But there also could be art such as sculpting and ceramics, and just pencil drawing. Art can be shown in any way as long as it has a meaning behind it. A piece of artwork could have a single object and mean so much. Art started long ago, even before art materials were created. Cave man’s would draw pictures by using berries on stone to tell a story. There is also many different types of actual art. For an example, there is realism and impressionism. The different types of arts have their own meaning behind them. A piece of artwork could look like it was taken by a photographer it was so clear. Or, the piece could have so many objects and shapes, the viewer has no idea what it is. Either way, art is art.
11/29-12/3 Image With Creative Response

One fine evening, Holly, Tori, Kelsey, and Morgan were out celebrating a GNO (girls night out). They needed an escape from all the drama and boys so they decided to go out and have some fun. Before they actually went out, they all met up at Holly’s house and started to plan their night. The girls had to decide whether they should have a relaxing girls night out, or a wild one. And, of course, knowing these girls, they came to conclusion that they wanted to go all out. They were going to dress up in their everyday work outfits and hit up all the clubs. Tori was a hair dresser, Holly was a cleaning lady, Kelsey was a nurse and Morgan was an everyday college student. The way these girls were dressed, it was clear that they weren’t just your ordinary friends. These girls were CRAZY and when they’re together, they’re even CRAZIER! So when they were all dressed and ready to get their groove on, they were on their way. Their first and only stop was going to be at a club called H2O. This club that they were attending was an under twenty one year old club. This probably could help explain why these girls are such angels. They barely ever broke the rules. So when they told their parents they were going out, their parents fully trusted them. Holly, Kelsey, Morgan and Tori looked better than ever in their snazzy uniforms. When they walked into the club, everyone stared right at them. Most people would think that these girls are celebrities out to cause some trouble. But the truth was, they just wanted to have some fun. They girls didn’t waste one second, and right as they walked in, they went right to the dance floor. The DJ played all their favorite songs and it was clear to everyone they were having an amazing time. Morgan even participated in the dance contest and won first place! Just as these girls, aka celebrities, were leaving, they all hopped into a phone booth. They wanted to call their mothers to let them know they were okay and survived the night. Just as all these fine ladies were on the phone, paparazzi took a snapshot. These girls didn’t very much care, because two weeks later they were on the National Geographic website.

11/29-12/3 Reaction to Picture

First of all, the thing that caught my eye the most about this picture is the cactuses. Because of the cactuses, it most likely was taken in Arizona. Arizona is my most favorite place to be. I travel to Arizona quite often, and fall more in love with it every time. Something about it is just so amazing. The whole layout of this photograph is extremely interesting. There’s so much going on its pretty crazy. There’s lightning bolt and a rainbow all in one pictures. It’s so fascinating that there could be so much going on in one picture. Just in this picture, there looks like there are different types of weather going on. In the bottom of the photograph, it looks like it would be a nice, warm, sunny day. Then, at the top left of the photograph, it looks as if there is a sand storm. And finally, on the far right, it looks like there was just a rain fall. This is evident because there is a rainbow. Maybe, at the end of that rainbow, there is a pot of gold. This picture makes me think of the relaxing, but crazy kind of days. These kind of days I have so much to do but don’t feel like doing anything at all. The photograph makes me think of these kinds of days because the weather is so crazy yet calm. This picture could also have some type of meaning behind in. There is dark clouds covering the sky, but there is a little bit of blue trying to come out. This could symbolize that behind troubled days, there are better days waiting. It could also symbolize that little bit of hope. Everyone needs to have hope no matter what situation there in. This picture makes me feel good and happy with just the thought of Arizona. I can’t wait for the next day Arizona and I meet again.

10/4-10/8 The Last Song

The Last Song is another movie that I am absolutely in love with. The first time I saw it was in New York City with my best friend, Tori Delzer, her mom, and my mom. My mother and I were balling the whole movie with tissues piling up on our laps. Before seeing the movie I read the book which was written by Nicholas Sparks. I read a few other books written by him and enjoyed them all; they were crazy good. The Last Song is about a young girl who was sent to her father’s house for the summer in a Southern beach town. Miley, who plays Ronnie, does not want to be there let alone spend some time with her father. Little does Ronnie know, her father has terminal cancer. Ronnie's relationship with her father is pretty awful, but their communication gets better after she meets a nice, cute guy named Will. Will is an extremely good looking guy who makes the movie worth watching. Whenever I watch The Last Song I wish I was in Miley’s place spending all the time with Will. The movie as a whole just has a cute, happy and sad plot to it. I normally think Miley Cyrus is annoying, but in The Last Song she didn’t bother me at all. I definitely recommend watching this movie. The Last Song will make you cry about the tragedy ending, and laugh about the amazing summer Ronnie will never forget.

10/4-10/8 Hairspray

Another one of my favorite movies is Hairspray. Hairspray came out 3 years ago and when I first saw it, I fell in love. All of the characters put on a good show dancing and singing to all of the songs I later learned. All the songs were so upbeat and fun that I added them to my iPod. The racial and weight discrimination issues were managed with humor and without being offensive. One of the main characters was Zac Efron, a major crush I had at the time. He was part of the reason why I kept my eyes on the screen. From beginning to end, Hairspray put a smile on my face. It was not anywhere near boring or dull. There was so much going on; it kept me interested. At first I didn’t think I would like it because I normally don’t like musicals. But Hairspray was somehow different. I liked Hairspray so much that when I went to New York City, my mother and I got front row seats to see it on Broadway. It wasn’t as good as the movie of course because I liked the actors better. The movie is so bright and bubbly and could put anyone in a good mood.
10/4-10/8 Confessions Of A Teenage Drama Queen

One of my all-time favorite movies is Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen. I have loved it ever since it came out in theaters and eventually learned the words, word for word. I went to go see it for the first time in theaters with my first best friend, Olivia Young. At first I didn’t like it, I thought it was weird, but as the movie went on I started to love it. Lindsay Lohan is the main character in the movie, and back then she was very popular. The movie is so fun and has a humorous side to it. Young teenage girls, like me, when I first viewed the movie, could relate to this movie extremely. Lindsay Lohan, who played Lola, was a teenage girl that was raised in New York City. She was forced to move away from the concrete jungle to a suburb of New Jersey. Lola finds herself fighting for attention and finding friends. Lohan does a great job playing the "drama queen" and for the most part her character is believable. A lot of the time she lies, makes up stories about her previous life and gets in trouble. Even though it’s an entertaining movie, there are still lessons Lola is learning on the way.

9/20-9/24 Past
9/20-9/24 Present
9/20-9/24 Future
Graduating from high school is a scary and exciting step in your lifet. I’m not quite positive where I want to go or what I want to do but I do have some things in mind. For college I definitely want to go far away or go to a big school. My dream is to go to Arizona State but it’s a big change moving from buffalo to Phoenix. But that’s my plan when I get older; moving from the cold Buffalo to warm Arizona. I also have been looking colleges near Alden and also a few hours away. One day my mother and I drove through Pennsylvania and looked a few colleges. I really liked Slippery Rock, it was very clean and the buildings looked super nice. I’m not sure what I want to do when I’m older as a career, it’s too hard for me to decide right now. I’d love to do something to do with gymnastics. Gymnastics has been a part of me my whole life so it would be cool to have a job revolving around gymnastics. I was thinking of maybe opening a gym naming it Flip and Twist Gymnastics Center. I would like to marry a rich, handsome man who is older than me. We will have no kids so we can go out and spend all of our income on ourselves. My husband and I will drive shiny sports cars such as a Lamborghini or Ferrari. I’m sure everything won’t work out the way I want it to but as long as I’m happy I will be okay. My future plans are still undecided all I know is that I want to be successful.

9/13-9/17 #3

9/13-9/17 #2

The weather has been bad for three days straight now and Brandon wondered if it was ever going to change. He was on summer break and he was ready for the warm weather to begin. He had big plans for the summer such as building a tree house and joining a bowling team. But this bad weather was keeping him from going anywhere. It got so bad that Brandon’s house eventually lost power. He had no access to the internet and wasn’t able to watch the news to keep updated on the storm. So just like every other day, he was sitting on his comfy chair, reading a book. The past three days Brandon has been reading the same book and he was getting quite bored of it. So today he decided he was going to do something different; he was going to iron all the clothes in his closet. Just as he was ironing his favorite dress shirt, his house started shaking violently. Brandon went to the window and as he looked outside he saw his house flying through the air. The next thing he knew the roof blew off and he was flying through the air along with his valuables. Just before he was going to crash into another building, Brandon woke up from his dream.

One very strange and eventful day, Colorado was sitting on his porch enjoying the beautiful day. Lying next to him was his all-time favorite birthday present, a dog. All of Colorado’s life he has been wishing for the most perfect Dalmatian and when the day came, he was ecstatic. He decided to name the Dalmatian Skylar. When he received the gift, his Mom said to treat him well because this dog is one special Dalmatian. Colorado didn’t think much of it until the day Skylar started mooing. Colorado thought that his dog was acting awfully weird that morning, and when he started to moo that just topped it off. Maybe a walk will help calm Skylar down, Colorado thought. So he tied Skylar to a leash and away they went. They took a walk down the road and into the nature trail for about two hours. By the time Colorado and Skylar got home, they were both exhausted. As they were walking into the house, Colorado saw something that he never thought he would ever see before. As Colorado was taking off his shoes, he saw all the spots on Skylar’s body coming off. The spots were coming off into the air, and flying out the window. Colorado couldn’t believe his eyes; maybe that’s why his Mom said it was one special dog.
